Welcome to my dissertation blog!

“Why blog?” Let me start by telling you how it all began. After the pandemic, I pursued my lifelong passion for working with animals and improving their lives. For over 20 years, I have been a successful Electrical Engineer focused on telecommunications and alternative energy solutions. I have no regrets and have enjoyed my career immensely, however, I took the leap and made a career transition beginning with becoming a certified Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Healthcare Assistant. The next part of my journey will be as a Ph.D. candidate in veterinary medicine engineering. The road to this end has been challenging thus far, but I have embraced the challenge of learning, researching, questioning, working, fully immersed in this new field and writing. It is a new and exciting life.

So, to answer the initial question of why blogs, – I am documenting my journey not only for those who share my passion for working with animals but also because digital dissertations are much easier to organize. Most importantly, I hope to provoke thought, inspire change, and encourage innovation for our companion animals and wildlife.

My dissertation will gradually delve into the fascinating history of our interactions with other creatures on this planet. It includes the complex psychology behind the human-animal bond while unravelling our inclination towards cruelty and dominance. Through my research, I aim to shed light on the outdated animal laws of today and highlight the stark contrast between the progress in human medicine and the stagnation in veterinary medicine. Once again, we’ll confront the paradox of humanity’s definition and our struggle to embody it.
